Support Your Local Park Bench

I’ve been spending a lot of time at the water lately. Honestly, it’s the only thing that feels peaceful currently. Between the chaos of politics, endlessly searching and applying for jobs, and the health issues of family members weighing on me, I’ve been feeling stuck. So, rather than keep my feet stuck in the mud, I go watch the ocean waves, listening for direction and inspiration, and write…a lot.

I made a video about the most underrated therapist in the world. Hope you enjoy.

Support Your Local Park Bench

Have you ever noticed how the best views in the world are usually paired with an empty park bench?

Like they’re waiting for someone to finally slow down enough to notice them, they just sit there watching waves crash, leaves fall,

People rush by with their AirPods and their minds somewhere else entirely,

Like this one right here, perfectly positioned under a cypress tree, front row seats to one of the best shows on earth.

And most days it sits here completely alone.

Park benches might be the most patient things ever created.

They don’t post on social media asking for attention, they don’t send you calendar invites.

They just wait, offering the same invitation day after day,

“Hey, you need a break from all the chaos in the world? I got you.”

As humans, we spend thousands of00:01:03.359 dollars on meditation apps wellness retreats, therapy sessions, all the while these wooden philosophers are out here offering free peace of mind, no subscription required, no wait list, just show up and sit down.

I know you’re probably thinking, “I don’t have time to sit on a park bench. I’ve got meetings, deadlines, places to be.”

And that may be true but as I’m watching all the people who are too busy to stop, there’s something comforting in the realization that this bench, like all the others in the world, isn’t going anywhere. It’ll be here tomorrow, next week, next year, holding space for whoever needs a moment to breathe.

These pillars of wooden wisdom have probably seen it all, first dates, last goodbyes, coffee fueled sunrises, tearstained sunsets.

They’ve supported more life stories than any therapist couch could dream of and they’ve never charged a cent for their service.
So here’s my challenge to you, take a few minutes to go out, find your local park bench.

Maybe it’s the one with a view that stops you in your tracks every time you actually look up from your phone, maybe it’s the one that just makes you think a little differently about your local community, maybe it’s the one that’s been waiting for you to notice it.

Go sit down, no agenda, no timeline, just you, whatever view that bench has been saving for you and maybe a couple of curious seagulls, pigeons, or dogs from the neighborhood.
Because at the end of the day, maybe park benches don’t get lonely, maybe they’re just patiently waiting for us to remember what they’ve known all along

Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is just stop, breathe, and observe.

Support your local park bench. It’s been supporting everyone else for years, and who knows maybe the next time you’re feeling a bit lonely yourself, you’ll remember that there’s always at least one friend out there ready to help you carry the way to the world for a while.

Take a seat, stay a while. Even though it doesn’t always feel that way, the world will still be there waiting for you when you get back to it.
