2010 Major League Baseball All Star Mickey Mouse

I’ve enjoyed that Major League Baseball has added some nationalism to the game in recent years. Specifically the All Star New Era Stars and Stripes Fitteds. This year I was a little disappointed that the Giants received the red colorway (I am still not sure what determines what color bill a team receives) but my navy blue Stars and Stripes fitted from 2008 gets plenty of wear still to this day so a refreshed version would have been nice. They did switch it up to the white cap which adds a new twist, which keeps things fresh. Not to mention the All Star patch version in the team’s standard issue colors being available again.

One thing that I think puts this year over the top in terms of marketing though, is the MLB All Star Mickey Mouse Statue Collection. At $25 and a total of 36 variations available, these are bound to end up in the hands of all sorts of different collectors. Thumbs up to Major league Baseball and Mickey Mouse on coming up with a new way to sell us on the midsummer classic. Hopefully this year’s game in Anaheim on July 13th won’t be a disappointment.

Each of the MLB team’s get a version of Mickey, as well as the National and American Leagues. The last four in the collection will be “Disney’s #1 Fan” in a variety of 2010 MLB All Star inspired designs. Now to find out exactly where these will be popping up…and to get my hands on a Giants version.
