The First Decaf Coffee I Can Actually Drink

I love coffee but I definitely do not need full pots of caffeine 24-7. Until now, every cup of decaf coffee that I have ever had gave me headache. Even when my parents used to mix half decaf and half regular, without fail, I would get a headache. I used to think I was going through caffeine withdrawals, but when I would take a break from coffee for a few weeks, I’d try decaf (mostly because that’s what my grandparents used to drink) but still would end up with a headache.

A few weeks back I discovered water process decaffeinated coffee from Bicycle Coffee Co in Oakland. I’d always wondered if the processing of the decaf coffee was what gave me the headaches. I’d read from places like Coffee Confidential about the chemicals used to decaffeinate, and seemed like a long shot, but what if my body was reacting to those chemicals?

I can’t say for certain, but I can say that the water process decaf from Bicycle Coffee Co is excellent. And since it didn’t give me a headache, expect to see me posting a lot more late night pour overs.
