I woke up this morning thinking about the pizza that I ate 9 months ago. I’d say that’s weird, but the only thing weird about it is that I usually wake up thinking about burritos. One of my favorite things to do is just get in the car and drive without a destination. On this particular trip, my girlfriend and I, and our dog ended up in Half Moon Bay, California.
Half Moon Bay, California is a beautiful coastal town known for its stunning beaches, awesome surfing, and an insane amount of flowers. Half Moon Bay’s vibe is much more small-town than a lot of coastal cities, which usually makes it a quiet and peaceful getaway. There are plenty of delicious seafood spots but on this particular day, we were in the mood for pizza and only pizza.
We ended up at Verrazzano Pizza on Stone Pine Road. By the name, I expected thin by-the-slice New York-style pizza, which they had, but we ended up with a whole deep dish pie that was reminiscent of the pizzas I used to get when I lived in Detroit. Their website doesn’t do Verrazzano Pizza much justice but I was snapping photos that day on my phone, so you can scroll down for the goodness. The pizza was amazing. We took it up the road a couple of miles and watched the sunset while stuffing our faces. It was awesome. Highly recommend.
Oh, and don’t forget to try the Sicilian lemonades! 🤤
