The $6 Pickup and My Never Ending Quest

Over the last few years, my sneaker wish list has changed drastically. Although there are still plenty of classics and retro models that will forever be on my want list, I’ve become slightly obsessed with random player exclusives. Yeah, everyone wants to get their hands on the latest LeBron Heroes/Hardwood, etc, but for myself, the days of spending outrageous amounts of money on a PE are long gone (unless of course, UNDFTD or Eminem IVs come my way, then disregard that statement). I love some of the LeBron 7 PE’s, I just can’t justify spending a $1000 on a pair of shoes. I’m on the hunt for random players that receive PE’s and then get overlooked, or that in this case, change footwear deals and leave behind a selection of gems. Unfortunately, these also caused me to purchase a pair that I can’t fit into, which is a first.

One of my most recent pickups was a pair of Converse Dwyane Wade Team Wade PEs. Yep, $6 worth of Marquette Madness and about 5 sizes too big for me, but worth every penny. The Team Wade released in an abundance of colorways in late 2008, these were exclusive to players of Wade’s alma mater, the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Beauty, and value, are still in the eye of the beholder.
