I was lucky enough to get some tickets to see Indy Car come to Sonoma this past weekend. I haven’t been to a major event at Sears Point since American Le Mans last visited in 2005. A few track days spread throughout five years is just not enough considering how beautiful the drive to the track from whatever direction you come from is. I definitely miss ALMS coming to Sonoma.
It was a beautiful day which always makes it difficult to take pictures in my opinion. Practice makes perfect though…and what better way to practice than trying to shoot cars that are pushing speeds of over 200 MPH! I was playing with settings most of the day just trying to see what I could come up with. I also shot a ton of photos of people because the diversity that shows up for IndyCar is mind-boggling. It seems that the series draws fans from every type of racing which is something that impressed me. The race itself was a little uneventful considering Will Power was on pole and pretty much stayed there the entire race.
